The Challenge

This residential project in Uttar Pradesh had individual DISCOM smart meters at every flat, with diesel generator (DG) backup for power continuity. Managing DG required a separate automatic changeover unit and a separate DG-side smart meter at each metering point — duplicating both device cost and wiring across the entire project. Residents, the builder, and the facility team raised concerns about this cost burden and approached PES Electrical for a better solution.

Our Solution

PES had engineered the PES-ACCL in-house specifically to solve this problem — and this project became its first field deployment. It was chosen as the proving ground precisely because the challenge here was so representative: individual DISCOM meters, DG backup, and the duplicated changeover + DG-meter cost at every flat that societies across multipoint DISCOM developments keep running into. 800 PES-ACCL meters were deployed, replacing two separate devices per flat (a standalone changeover unit and a DG smart meter) with one integrated device that works alongside the flat’s existing DISCOM meter.

The Result

The project eliminated the cost of a standalone changeover unit at every metering point, along with the extra wiring normally run between a separate changeover unit and a separate DG meter — real savings across all 800 units. Source-wise DG billing was accurate from day one, removing the estimate-based charges that typically trigger resident disputes. Deployed and running in production, it is now the reference deployment PES points to when specifying the ACCL for new multipoint DISCOM projects.
